Richard Roche Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Coaching

Mr. Roche supervises 80 coaches, athletic trainers and administrative assistants with Notre Dame High School

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ, May 28, 2020 Richard Roche has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A seasoned athletic director with many years of experience in education to his credit, Mr. Roche serves as the director of athletics, the head basketball coach and the boys’ varsity basketball coach for Notre Dame High School. Since beginning his tenure at the aforementioned school in 2017, he has successfully supervised a staff of 80 coaches, athletic trainers and administrative assistants. Additionally, Mr. Roche schedules practices and transportation to and from games while maintaining the school’s sport equipment inventory.

Previously, Mr. Roche worked in a similar position for Lindenhurst Public Schools between 2006 and 2010. Prior to these appointments, he gained valuable expertise in sports coaching as the head basketball coach for Hobart and William Smith Colleges and Saint Anthony’s High School, for which he also taught social studies. During the late 1980s and mid-1990s, he worked in assistant coaching roles for Villanova University, the State University of New York at Farmingdale and the New York Institute of Technology. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Roche is especially proud of upgrading facilities and programs at Notre Dame High School.

In pursuit of his aspirations, Mr. Roche earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1987 and a Master of Arts in education from Villanova University in 1994. Over the years, he has maintained his professional alignment with the New Jersey Basketball Coaches Association and the Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey. During his spare time, he contributes to his community through the YMCA and the Special Olympics. In light of his outstanding work, he has been honored as the Coach of the Year on numerous occasions. Looking toward the future, Mr. Roche intends to obtain a coaching position at the collegiate level.
